Meet Dr. Michelle Bloemers

Dr. Michelle Bloemers was born and raised in Michigan. Her mother is also a dentist, and Dr. Bloemers spent many summers as a dental assistant at her office during high school. This was where her love for dentistry and patient service was first fostered. Dr. Bloemers completed her bachelor’s degree in Human Biology at Michigan State University, where she met her now husband, Jonathan.

Dr. Bloemers continued to work as a dental assistant part-time during her college years, as well as full-time after graduation. During her time as an assistant, she was able to gain invaluable knowledge regarding patient care and is passionate about creating a unique and enjoyable experience for her patients and team members. She completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University School of Dentistry. In her third year of dental school, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy during school. Despite this extreme challenge, Dr. Bloemers graduated on time and with honors in the top 10% of her class. She was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society upon graduation. Dr. Bloemers received the prestigious OHSU Stephen P. Peglow Award, which is awarded to who possess the qualities most desirable in a dentist including integrity, humility, compassion, skill, sensitivity to patient needs, and dedication to service. She also received the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award of Merit, an award given to the dentist who has made an outstanding contribution to the art and science of dentistry, and the Hanau Best of the Best Excellence in Prosthodontics Award, which is given to the dentist who has excelled in the study and practice of difficult restorative dentistry.

In her free time, Dr. Bloemers loves to create by drawing, painting, and sewing. She also enjoys running with her husband and dogs and has completed two marathons and many half marathons. She and Jonathan also volunteer every week at Blanchet House in Portland to give back to their community. Dr. Bloemers has also volunteered at many free dental events and continues to make service a priority in her career.
